Allegedly Threatened, Then Killed on Livestream: The Case of Valeria Márquez

Apparently, she had already spoken out about the danger she was in

The life of Valeria Marquez, a 23-year-old influencer, was tragically taken while she was doing what she loved most—sharing her day-to-day life on TikTok. Her story has gone viral not just because of the violence witnessed by her followers, but because on Monday, May 13, around 6:30 p.m., while streaming live on TikTok, a man entered her salon and shot her.

What makes the situation even more devastating is that Valeria had already spoken out about the danger she was in. She had filed a complaint against her ex-partner for making threats, left behind evidence, and even wrote a clear warning: “If anything happens to me, I hold that person responsible.”

Social media has since been flooded with screenshots that show the fear and silence Valeria was living with—evidence that may confirm she was harassed and threatened in the days leading up to her death.

The Messages Valeria Reportedly Received from Her Ex

On X (formerly Twitter), alleged WhatsApp conversations between Valeria and her ex-partner were shared, showing disturbing threats. In one message, he writes: “So you learn to do what I say. You don’t know my worst side.” Valeria, standing her ground, replied: “Go to hell. You’ll remember me.”

The tone of the messages reflects someone clearly unstable—jealous, aggressive, and threatening. In another message, he says: “You make me do things I don’t want to do. But fine… you’ll see when I get there.”

An Instagram story also began circulating, where Valeria shows bruises on her legs and writes: “It was my current partner, the one I lived with. That’s why I say he’s now my EX. I hold him responsible if anything happens to me or my family.”

Valeria wasn’t only a content creator—she was also a small business owner. She ran Blossom The Beauty Lounge, a beauty salon located in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico.

What Is the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office Doing?

The Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that an investigation is underway and is being handled under the femicide protocol. However, it has not yet been officially confirmed whether the screenshots circulating on social media are part of a formal complaint Valeria filed before her death.

What is clear is that Valeria Marquez’s case has already sparked widespread outrage across the country.
